Oscar Neira

I'm Oscar Neira — an engineer, storyteller, and speaker.
I didn't take the traditional path. I carved my own.

From a small business selling snacks, to running a neighborhood internet café, to building distributed systems across Europe — every chapter of my life has been driven by curiosity, resilience, and the power of open source.

A scholarship took me from Mexico to Finland, flipping my world upside down and showing me what was possible with the right support and mindset. Since then, I've been building resilient software, mentoring developers, and speaking at events about the paths less traveled.

I believe in starting small, dreaming big, and always helping others along the way.

✨ Want to know where the name From Potatoes to Programs comes from?
Let's just say it started with a fryer, some potatoes, and a dream.
